However, when we stood back and analysed our business we saw we had increasing input costs, cost of machinery, fuel and labour, all in an ever increasingly unreliable and unpredictable climate.
We wanted a business change as well as a lifestyle change. As a family business, working with livestock provides a wonderful opportunity for togetherness.
Our background in farming taught us to have no preconceived ideas and to embrace science and technology. We could see that cross breeding to achieve hybrid vigour was so well accepted and utilised in most plant breeding systems and other commercial animal production systems. The benefits have revolutionised breeding systems. It just made sense to apply this same philosophy to our cattle breeding operation.
We have enjoyed the journey to get here, and we are excited about the future.
